Tet Parade - Save the Date
The 2020 Tet Parade is scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2020. As you know, Westminster School District has been an annual partner in the local Tet Parade for many years. It is a wonderful tradition and a great opportunity to participate in an important community celebration. Please save the date, and we will share more information in the coming weeks.
Updating Chrome OS on a Chromebook – Please share with Teachers
Keeping our 1:1 Chromebooks up-to-date with the most current Chrome OS can be a challenge when students don’t sign out of the devices. Fortunately, there are three solutions for updating student Chromebooks. First, schedule students to sign out and sign back in to their Chromebooks every Friday; middle school students can do this during their Homeroom period. Next, students should look for an up arrow (picture below) when an update is ready to be installed and should click the arrow. Last, students can manually update their Chromebooks by following these directions: Apply a Chromebook Update. Having the most current Chrome OS will ensure student Chromebooks work with our online curriculum, ClassLink, SchoolCity, and CAASPP during state testing.
Managing a Saved Password (Chromebook) – Please share with Teachers
Students can view their stored passwords in Chrome on the Settings page. This will be useful for students who cannot remember their password when setting up ClassLink. Students can manage their saved password by following these directions: Managing a Saved Passwords (Chromebook).

Stacey Middle School Updates for the week of October 28-Nov. 1
We are having some issues with our Skateboard students who like to hang at the Clegg parking lot for about 30 – 40 minutes after school. They are rude to parents trying to exit the parking lot and rude to Mr. Staggs, the principal and other teachers. Mrs. DeBritton will be there daily. Please remind your skateboarding student to please go home directly after school and practice their tricks at home.
School Safety is a priority at Stacey. Please be diligent when picking up your student and following the posted signs.
There is no left turn out of either parking lot at dismissal time. This is due to an obstructed view for safety. We are also having many students on skateboards, scooters and bikes not following the rules of the road. Please review the safety precautions with your child. We almost had a student get hit in the crosswalk this week. They should not be weaving in and out of traffic. Review with them all the ripple effects of being hit by a car including physical or emotional injuries to the victim, the victim’s family, the driver and the driver’s family. We are working closely with HBPD to help monitor traffic.

Please be sure you have a copy of your child’s schedule so you can follow it. Period 9 will be held after period 8. Back to School Night is an opportunity for you to meet each of your child’s teachers and learn about the class curriculum, grading policies, homework, etc. It is highly encouraged that all parents attend this event to gather helpful information. Students do not need to attend this event. They can come to our student showcases (Open House) in the spring.
On Tuesday Night, Sept 10, the parents of females students are invited to attend an informational meeting about our partnership with Girl’s Incorporated. Girl’s Incorporated provides an outstanding program to our female students in grade 6, 7 and 8 once a week during the girl’s PE periods. It is highly recommended that girls’ take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about mind and body awareness, the Work force and college and career readiness. All female students will be receiving a permission slip on Tuesday, Sep. 10 during their PE class and will be meeting with me and with a Girl’s Inc. staff member to inform the girls about this outstanding program. We are the only middle school in our district to offer this program for our female students. The program will officially begin on Thurs. Sept. 19 for girl’s who return their permission slip. Girls are excused from their PE class to participate in this program either on Thursday or Friday which ever day they have PE.
