If you were unable to attend Marina High School's Future Freshman Night, please be sure to check out the presentation below. Also, if your student is interested in learning more about the sports programs offered at Marina, please be sure to check out when our sports teams will be holding their informational meetings between March 1st - March 9th. All information for incoming 9th graders can be found at https://www.marinavikings.org/
This resource page will educate you a little bit about what your schedule will look like next school year, what options you have, and what you need to do to make sure you have a wonderful schedule.
Because we set up all students on a path that will give them the opportunity to attend a 4-year university right out of high school, all students will be enrolled in courses that help them satisfy their A-G requirements (learn more about A-G requirements in the OVHS Course Catalog and Guidance Presentation below). We are looking forward to meeting you in person!
Please fill out the 9th Grade Course Selection form below to choose your classes!
Your Guidance Specialists are disappointed that they aren’t able to come out to your middle school to meet you, but they are still here for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to email them or schedule appointments during their office hours.
Please keep in mind that most of your schedule will be determined by middle school courses and grades, placement test results, and teacher recommendations. We want to set you up for success, so please be mindful that some of your choices, if they go against the data and recommendations provided, may be changed.
Here is what OVHS has to say about their school: We are the smallest comprehensive high school in the HBUHSD and provide our students with a more individualized education and support. We are the only high school in our district to be an International Baccalaureate (IB) school; the only school to have it's own Business Academy, as well as the only school to offer course selections that many of the other high schools do not such as Mandarin , Automotive Engineering, and Latino Literature.
Open Enrollment is Huntington Beach Union High School District's (HBUHSD) school of choice program that offers Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, and Westminster families the opportunity to attend schools outside of their neighborhood school's attendance boundaries. While every child living within HBUHSD boundaries is guaranteed placement at their school of residence, one campus may have a special program or focus that best meets the needs or interest of an individual student.
The Huntington Beach Union High School District will offer intradistrict/open enrollment to all students entering the ninth through twelfth grades for the 2021-22 school year. All intradistrict/open enrollment transfer applications submitted during January 11 - February 12, 2021, will be treated with equal priority and there are no advantages in turning in the application earlier or later. The application process will be online by visiting my.hbuhsd.edu.
