8th Grade Promotion Requirements

8th grade promotion is held in June for students who meet high school promotion requirements...

 

8th grade students must meet the following requirements to earn a Diploma:

  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA (7th and 8th grade) and
  • 75% school attendance 

 

8th grade students must meet the following requirements to earn a Certificate of Attendance:

  • 1.5-1.99 cumulative GPA (7th and 8th grade) and
  • 75% school attendance 
 

Students must clear all outstanding obligations (ex: textbooks, library books, chromebooks, fees, lunch money).  Students who have excessive truancies, absences, tardies, and discipline referrals, have been administratively transferred from another school, or have not attained a cumulative GPA of 1.5 GPA  (7th and 8th grade), may be excluded from promotion and related activities at the principal’s discretion. 8th Graders must complete 3 hours of community service. 

 

Formal attire and the use of limos are not appropriate for 8th grade promotion.  School dress code applies to promotion apparel.  Special activities for the end of the year are planned, but the privilege to participate is not automatic.  Students must maintain academic, behavior, and attendance standards in order to participate.
