8th Grade
One of the 8th grade school-wide goals is to complete 1 hour of community service per trimester totaling 3 hours. You need to keep track of your service hours and submit them at the end of the year. You will include your community service hours in your exit interview.
General Info about all Community Service
- In light of COVID we are making it easier for students to complete community service.
- Community Service Requirements for various groups AVID, NJHS, and 8th grade hours may overlap. That means you may use the same hours for several groups. You are encouraged to do more hours.
- Please make sure that your are safe when you do community service (parent permission, social distancing, masks, sanitary, etc).
- A supervising adult may sign off on the hours (office staff, parent, neighbor, scout leader, etc).
- You may obtain and print the Community Service Log from stacey.wsdk8.us. If you do not have access to a printer, then come by the office and pick one up.
- We will offer monthly community service opportunities. Check your Jupiter messages and “Recent News” at stacey.wsdk8.us.
Community Service Ideas
Make safety and health a number 1 priority. Please adhere to all state health guidelines such as social distancing, wearing a mask, and sanitizing.
- Tutoring via zoom
- Picking up trash at beach, park, or neighborhood
- Making Thank You cards or letters for first responders and medical professionals
- Gardening or mowing lawn for a neighbor
- Scout and church projects
You may think of others besides these.
