Saturday Academy is a great opportunity to participate in enrichment activities at Stacey on the weekend. Every Saturday Academy is a little different, and all of them are fun!

Although the program is designed to help our District to receive funds for previous absences, any student my participate. Saturday Academy was very popular last year and included a variety of activities including our volleyball clinic, guitar clinic, and a drama workshop. Time to get work done in the library is also provided for any students who need time or help getting caught up with school work.

To find out the upcoming date for the next Saturday Academy and what activities are being offered, listen to the morning announcements and watch for advertising flyers to come out approximately one week prior to a Saturday Academy. Morning announcements are also posted daily in the 'Links" section of our website.

Journals can take many forms. This variety is perhaps one reason why the value of keeping a journal can be experienced by all individuals.

All types of media can be used to create your journal. Look around your home there are lots of options available like: hand drawn pictures (old and new) and titles/words, pictures and words cut out of magazines, printed downloaded images, pictures from your phone, colorful pens, pencils and crayons, stickers, dried flowers and leaves, yarn or string, watercolors, tape and so much more. The important point is to get your emotions down on paper. Gather your completed pages, punch holes down the side, and secure with ribbon, string, or yarn or however you want to secure them.

MOST IMPORTANT! The journaling process should be gradual. There is no need to rush or feel obligated to complete a certain number of entries within a given time. Allow yourself to express yourself comfortably. Over time, you'll grow as an individual and become more accustomed to the process as well as more accepting of who you are as a person. In this uncertain and historical time, journaling can help us through and provide us with a look back and something to share with our future family members.

The following list are just a few examples of the many types of journals you may consider:

Emotions Journal

An emotions journal focuses on the feelings and internal emotions that the writer wants to reinforce, control, or understand.

Dialogue Journal

A dialogue journal is much like a private conversation between two people, only in written form. In can take place between and parent and a child. An electronic journal can take place between teacher and student, or even between two students.

Gratitude Journal

Perhaps the simplest of all, a gratitude journal provides you with a few moments of reflection. Within the pages, you record a list of what you are thankful for at a given moment. It takes only 10 minutes or so but should be done on a regular basis, preferably daily. Some like to write in their journal first thing in the morning. Others prefer to express their gratitude at the end of the day just prior to bed.

Dream Journal

A dream journal is best kept at your bedside so that you may record exactly any dreams you have nightly. I find that I don’t remember my dreams if I get up so it’s best to write them down immediately upon waking.

Nature Journal

Now that we are practicing social-distancing, this type of journal is perfect for going outside by yourself or with your family. A nature journal is used to record impressions of nature including weather, clouds, animals, leaf impressions, quotes, factual information, and other nature wonders.

Reading Journal

Reading journals are useful to record impressions of thoughts or short reviews of books that you have recently read.

Travel or Trip Journal

Even though we are all spending more time at home right now, this journal can be created from a past trip.

A travel journal documents the events, places, and impressions of a day trip or an extended vacation. It may include sketches, receipts or ticket stubs, labels from packages (especially if traveling in a foreign country), photographs, and perhaps even audio clips if keeping an electronic journal.
