Advanced Computer Science (7th - 8th Grade Yearlong & Prerequisite yearlong Computer Science)

Advanced Computer Science is a yearlong course for 7th and 8th graders who have already completed the yearlong Technology course. It is designed to expand upon concepts and skills learned in the yearlong Technology class. Students are required to have a foundational knowledge of mobile game and application design. Students will continue to develop their skills towards competency of the core Computer Science Standards put forth by the CA Department of Education. Using project based instruction, students will continue to build a knowledge base of computer applications, analyzing data, internet safety, programming and problem solving. Some projects may involve mobile app development using AI, complex mobile game design, web design, team coding to solve problems and more. These projects are designed to develop team building, problem solving, and creative skills to launch students into future Computer Science courses and careers.
1) Student must have completed yearlong Computer Science elective in 6th or 7th grade.
