Honor Code
Stacey Middle School considers high ethical and moral behavior essential in education. Individual students are responsible for their own work and actions; therefore, the following academic honor code is in effect at Stacey Middle School.
1. Students are responsible for honest test taking practices by: not receiving or providing information before, after, or during a test not using unauthorized materials on a test not violating testing rules as outlined by the teacher.
2. Students are responsible for their own work, and Stacey does not allow other students to use or copy it unless permitted by the teacher. Students will not interfere with or change other students’ classwork.
3. Students will complete assignments without copying ideas or written material from other sources (ex: books, magazines, articles, internet), unless proper credit is given to avoid plagiarism.
4. Students will obtain valid parent signatures on all school documents that require such. Forgery is a serious offense.
5. Students will use computers safely and appropriately and always follow the Acceptable Use for Technology policy. Students may not attempt to access unsanctioned or inappropriate websites.

Students who have excessive absences, tardies, and behavior incidents, have been administratively transferred from another school, or have not attained a cumulative GPA of 1.5 GPA may be excluded from promotion and end-of-of-the-year activities at the
administration’s discretion.
School dress code applies to promotion apparel. End-of-the-year activities are planned, but the privilege to participate is no automatic. Students must maintain academic, behavior, and
attendance standards in order to participate.
Dress Code
Clothing worn to school should be comfortable and appropriate for school activities. While Stacey encourages self-expression, clothing should be appropriate for the learning environment. Students who do not follow the dress code standards are required to change into clothes provided by the school and the clothing item will be confiscated for parent pick-up.
Note: The parent will not be contacted by the school. It is the student's responsibility to inform the parent of the violation.
Stacey dress code standards are as follows:
- All tops must cover the midriff at all times. All tank tops must have at least a 1 inch strap.
- All under garments must be covered by clothing. Students may not wear halter tops, tube tops, bare midriff tops, tank tops with spaghetti straps, and low cut tops.
- Shorts must have an inseam of 4”.
- Hair styles and colors should not distract from learning.
- Natural hair colors are strongly encouraged.
- Hats are allowed for sun and weather protection. Hats must be worn facing forward and removed when indoors.
- Students face must be fully visible for safety reasons.
Students may NOT wear the following:
- Slippers or inappropriate pajamas.
- Opened-toed shoes such as sandals, flip flops, and slides.
- Shoes without backs or shoes with heels higher than 1/2 inches.
- Clothing that advertises alcohol, tobacco, vapes, or drugs, utilizes a double play on words, obscenities, profanity, suggestive/offensive behaviors, or depicts illegal actions such as spray painting and using firearms.
- Accessories, belts, jewelry, clothing items, or beauty trends that are a potential safety hazard.
Anti-Gang Dress Code
Westminster School District has joined other school districts in an effort to combat the threat of gang violence. It is a recognized fact that certain dress can be identified with gangs. It is also known that certain dress combinations can be a target of gang violence, even though the individual is not a gang participant. To insure the maximum safety of students, the school exercises the right to prohibit the use of gestures, drawings, and symbols associated with gangs. Graffiti is not allowed anywhere, including notebooks, shoes, backpacks, body, etc. In consideration of student safety, WSD requires all students to adhere to
these dress standards.
For the safety of students, the following may NOT be worn to school:
- Insignias and logos of non-school sponsored organizations that may be associated with gang activities.
- Any pants or shorts that are excessively baggy or long. All pants must be worn no lower than 1 inch below the navel.
- Plain white T-shirts.
- Shirts below hand length must be tucked in.
- Knee-length cut-off shorts worn with knee-high socks.
- Wallet chains or long, hanging belts.
- Belt buckles, jewelry, bandanas, hairnets, gloves, biker wallets, or other decorations with initials or gang-related symbols or signs.
Due to the fact that student attire trends change, dress code standards will be updated and communicated as needed in order to ensure an appropriate and safe school setting. Decisions regarding the appropriateness of clothing will be handled by the administration.
Cellphones, Earbuds, Headphones
The “Bell to Bell No Cell” motto means electronics such as cell phones, earbuds, speakers, and headphones may only be used before and after school. They must be turned off and not visible during school hours.
Electronics that ring, alert, and notify during school hours are considered a disruption and will be
confiscated. Electronics may not be used or visible, or they will be confiscated.
Confiscated electronics will remain in the front office for parent pick-up. Only parents may pick-up confiscated items. If a student has multiple electronic offenses, then they will not be allowed to carry their electronics during the school day. In this case, the student will check their phone into the office before school starts and pick it up afterschool.
- 1st offense: item confiscated for parent pick-up.
- 2nd offense: item confiscated for parent pick-up.
- 3rd offense: item not allowed on campus for 2 weeks.
- 4th offense: item not allowed on campus for 4 weeks.
The school is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any electronics or personal belongings.
Attendance
Good attendance is essential for school success. Please schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school hours.
Students with temperatures of 100.4° or more must stay home from school.
Each time a student is absent or tardy, a parent/guardian must notify the office ASAP. If after 5 days of no notification, then the absence or tardy will be marked as unexcused. Parent/guardian must notify the office by calling the 24-hour attendance hotline (714) 897 - 6723 or by sending a note with the reason for the absence.
Parent/guardian and doctor’s notes can be brought to the front office, student window, faxed to (714) 372 - 8810, or emailed to pashcraft@wsdk8.us.
Please visit the website to view the full attendance policy.
- Excused Absences and Tardies: Illness, doctor and dental appointments with note, death in family, religious holiday, and student required court appearances are considered excused. All other absences or tardies are unexcused.
- Students are considered tardy to school if they are not in their seat when the starting bell rings at 8:15am.
- Any student absent from school may not participate in any after school activity on the same day as the absence.
- Students with excessive tardies will be placed on a Tardy Contract. When a student is on a Tardy Contract, the student will be assigned consequences for additional tardies. Students should be in their seat when the bell rings to be considered on-time.
- An unexcused tardy in excess of 30 minutes is considered a truancy and an unexcused absence.
- Multiple truancies may affect a student’s status to graduate and result in placement on a SART Contract.
- According to Education Code, students with excessive absences or tardies may be placed on a School Attendance Review Team (SART) Contract, which requires a doctor’s note for all absences and tardies. If absences or tardies continue while on a SART Contract, the parents may be invited to a DA’s meeting and referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB).
- Parents and students may be invited to a SART conference and placed on a SART Contract if their child has accumulated 5 or more unexcused absences, 10 or more excused absences, and/or 14 or more homeroom tardies.
